In Memoriam
Richard James
February 20, 1953 – April 13, 2024
With a heavy heart, we bid farewell to a remarkable man who has left an indelible mark on the Pagan community. Richard, alongside his beloved wife and life partner, Tamarra James, embarked on a journey to establish the Odyssean Tradition, the Wiccan Church of Canada, and The Occult Shop. Together, they created safe and welcoming spaces for Pagans, introducing many in Ontario to the world of the craft. Richard, as a High Priest, not only mentored and influenced the Pagan community but also championed Pagan rights, educated those who were not familiar with our beliefs, and provided support to individuals in the Federal Prison system. He was not only my boss but also my mentor, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked for him and to continue the legacy of The Occult Shop. His absence will be deeply felt. In Memoriam
R.G. “Rod” Bennien (Tarostar)
March 25, 1942 – April 27, 2022
Our oldest and beloved Tarot reader and longtime friend of the shop, Rod passed away in April 2022. We are all saddened by the loss of so much wit and wisdom, and we know that Rod will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.
